[Definitely a massive understatement if ever there was one...though, honestly? The minimal reaction, at least over text, is appreciated. Jade isn't exactly sending this correspondence in search of any sort of commiseration or consolation, after all. Really, after the last forty-eight hours of being persistently reminded of just how absolutely atrocious he is at feelings...it's refreshing, this entirely practical exchange here. He can generally rely on Skulduggery to be fairly objective and straightforward, at least about these sorts of things. For the most part. Normally.]

Correct, it was not an accident. It was [......Goodness. Where to even start. Does he even want to start, on all the finer details? Maybe not...the gist, then, just the gist--] a very poorly thought-out arrangement. Jinx and her explosives were involved...but Yuuki was fully aware of what he was doing, apparently.

It is resolved in the sense that I don't see him trying for a repeat at any point in the foreseeable future, at least. Clarke and Rita very nearly killed him again for the thoughtlessness of it all.

[Though they quite assuredly weren't the only ones angry...but Jade isn't about to lay any claim to how effective his own scathing conversation with Natsuno after the fact may or may not have been. Not why he's touching base with Skulduggery about this, anyway...]

You're also right that the aftermath wasn't repaired. There's quite an unfortunate mess in the sports deck supply closet...and it's not the only one I've seen these last few days, either. [Seems somebody else exploded too, all over the promenade??? He doesn't even know, anymore. These things may as well happen, apparently.] All forms of maintenance throughout the ship seem quite delayed currently...and now we add resurrection to the list, it seems.

I don't suppose you've spoken with the captain at any point recently?

I think that might take the prize for "stupidest thing a teenager has done on this ship." At least everyone's more or less put together again...

[Three days, though? That does align with the ship not fixing itself. ...Surely he had nothing to do with any of that!]

I went to visit the bridge after the Muppet marathon, but he didn't respond.

[Not that he's reading anything into that at all, of course!]

I've yet to have witnessed anything quite so stupid on this ship myself, I agree. Though I sincerely hope no other teenager gets it in their head to try usurping Yuuki's crowning stupidity title anytime soon...

[But the month is young, and the energy in the air is...weird, of late. Case in point.]

He asked me to find that piece for him. I asked

I asked if it would harm the ship or the passengers and he said no.
But I didn't think to ask if it was going to harm him.

[Yeah, that...really sure does look, and metaphorically sound, a very particular way.

Unheard, Jade sighs to himself as he stares at this message for a long moment. It's a confirmation in its own way, this, of a suspicion he himself had started to develop. Ever since it'd become clear that Natsuno had failed to return from death in the same relentless routine all deaths had ever been regulated to, upon this ship...]

Even if you'd asked, do you really think he'd have had an answer for you? He hardly had any answer as to what the piece would even be. I doubt he had any true idea that it'd render such impact upon him.

['Impact him', Jade phrases it, while Skulduggery says 'harm him'. Because that phrasing, too, isn't missed. ...It's unsurprising, in a way, but...]

His reaction to the knowledge in that piece was an immediate request for death; you told me such, that time back. You may have spared him that, as well...

But I still wonder if his newfound discovery of the futility, in all this, isn't still guiding the neglect quite clearly occurring here about now.

All of that is true.

I'll keep trying. I've proven to be extremely hard to get rid of. He's obviously still alive, or else we wouldn't be having this conversation...

If I gave the Captain depression I'm going to throw myself overboard. 💀

[That... isn't much of a threat when you can literally fly, but it sounds suitably dramatic. The truth (at this particular point in time) is that he can't imagine the lack of care to last long, so he isn't overly concerned. Anyway, a few days of despondancy seems like a reasonable reaction to the news the Captain had recieved. It seems only fair to give him some space.]

I hope you haven't forgotten you weren't exactly the only one to go on that merry mission to retrieve that piece in the hopes of some beneficial result, you know.

Even that aside, though, I think I'd be about ready to join you in the sea 💀 [Since, like...really now.....] For a being that seemingly isn't particularly steeped in feelings, I hadn't imagined depression could even be an option, and yet.

[A pause between messages, in which there's more sighing happening.]

Suppose there's really nothing for it but to wait and see how things proceed in the next few weeks, regardless. If you wish to continue attempts at contact, that's just as well; it'd be prudent to know some semblance of his thought process currently, if nothing else. We can only hope whatever this is isn't liable to spiral even further. Things are bound to get very ugly very quickly if he stops caring even about supplementing such basics as the buffet hall or basic power to facilities, at some point...

[And who's to say it'd stop there, either? The captain might have remained insistent on refusing to give up on all this at an earlier time, but who's to say his mood won't dip such that he eventually decides to do away with the trouble of this entire reality and everything in it too? Sure, it'd be a release in some form...but one certainly can't do anything in oblivion....

...Well, but you know. That's the role Jade takes, these days, pessimistically keeping the worst case scenarios well in mind. Doesn't help that he's still very tired and stressed, at the moment. (And unbeknownst to either of them, of course, is the fact that "a few days of despondency" is going to end up turning into an entire month, with rogue angry ghosts soon entering the mix...)]

I'd say that, despite being something visibly soulless, he seems to have quite a range of emotions. They just happen to be almost entirely negative ones. It's stunning how many people refuse to consider their anger an emotion, much less one powerful enough to overwhelm all the others.

I don't think he'd do that. He certainly could, and I'm sure he's done it before out of spite, but in this case, it isn't a punishment. It's probably the most energy he can muster. Damn. 💀 I should have kept that cuff until I knew what he'd do with the answers it might provide. I was relying on Friday to keep an eye on him, but of course, she's completely overwhelmed by the destruction going on around here...

Well, I suppose the only thing we really can do right now is try to keep more people from blowing holes in the ship. The last thing we need right now is to sink.
